British Columbia's wind energy icon and newest technological marvel, The Eye of the Wind, was inaugurated in Vancouver – the venue of the Winter Olympic Games at a special event attended by Hon’ble Premier Gordon Campbell, and over two hundred local and international dignitaries on the 5th of February , 2010. The launch of Vancouver's first commercially viable wind turbine provides an enduring symbol of Grouse Mountain's commitment to sustainability, and sets an example in alternative energy innovation for the world to see. The active parts of the generator of Eye of the Wind were manufactured by Leitner Shriram Manufacturing Ltd, Chennai, India

This facility is the global manufacturing hub of the mega watt class LEITWIND Wind Electric Generator. This state- of- the- art manufacturing facility, set up near Chennai with an investment of US$430 million (approx) is set in a sprawling 20 acre campus employing over 300 people.
