Visa Services - Emergency Services  [0930 – 1130 hrs all working days]

Emergency Visa is granted on Canadian passports for travel to India in an emergency situation to attend to genuine medical and humanitarian emergencies only. Applicant will be required to provide proof of the emergency, which would be subject to verification and at the discretion of the Consulate.  Applicants may be required to appear for an interview.  Entry visa valid for one month with single entry is granted in such emergencies.   Tourist, Business, Employment, Research or Conference visas CANNOT be applied under emergency procedure.
We may not be able to grant the service in certain cases.

On Saturdays:

Only Emergency Visa (Online visa applications only) will be accepted at the Consulate between 1000-1200 hours, with a copy of the air-ticket (for travel within 48 hours) for death/critical illness cases - Only Canadian Passport holders.  You may be required to provide proof of your emergency.  We may not be able to grant the service in certain cases.
There will be no emergency visa service on Sundays and holidays.

Requirements :

  • Duly completed, printed and signed online visa application form ( http://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/ ).
  • Submit the application along with one passport size ( 2” x 2” or 51 x 51 MM) recent colour passport size photograph showing full frontal face against a white background to be pasted on the application form.
  • Current valid passport with minimum of 190 days validity and must have minimum 2 blank pages and copy of its first page.
  • A copy of the confirmed air ticket for travel within the next 48 hours.
  • Proof of the emergency which would be subject to verification at the discretion of the Consulate.
  • Copy of proof of address which should in the jurisdiction of this Consulate.
  • A copy of the cancelled Indian passport or Surrender Certificate.
  • Bank draft/Money order for a total of C$ 208.00 + C$4.00 (Consular surcharge) (Total C$ 212.00) payable by Demand Draft/Money Order to the Consulate General of India, Vancouver.
  • In case of minor, consent form signed by both parents.
  • In case of minor, copy of birth certificate or proof of parentage.
